mängige lapsed
Hei, poisid, pingutage!
Instrumentaalansambel Jaan Kumani juhatusel
Viis: Uno Naissoo
Arranžeering: Jaan Kuman
Tantsurütme I (Melodija 7")
incredible jazzfunk from Estonia. it's taken from ep called Dance rhythms, there's 5 singles in this series and one is better than other (though there's non-funk rhythms too). these were released after dance music contest and Jaan Kuman group were given opportunity to record these. Kuman group consisted of best Estonian jazz musicians, though they existed at the time, when jazz was still under cover business, so they were only "instrumentalists". maestros like L. Saarsalu, H. Aniko, T. Paulus etc played there, group leader was Jaan Kumann, who's great trompetist and also great arranger as you can hear. he arranged all tracks on ep's, also wrote some instrumental music himself. this track is written by Estonian jazz grand master Uno Naissoo, but this funk arrangment is made by Kumann. there isn't much info about those recordings or this group or their influences. released in 1976, recorded probably year earlier.
these records are open secret among collectors, but sadly otherwise Kuman's work is mostly forgotten.

Wow, cool track! Thanks for sharing.
Nice picture of the band too. Any idea when this was recorded?
Best wishes from Berlin
Andreas
thank you!
released in 1976, recorded probably in 1975-76. these are incredible recordings, when we consider time and place where they lived and had to work.
Väga uhke on 5. plaati omada, kuid juurde tahaks neid! 1. kõlab väga hästi !!
thank you for sharing this. what a great song.
